For those who qualify, the federal government gives a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for adoption expenses, including attorney fees, in all adoptions except stepparent adoptions.  The amount of the credit has been increasing every year, and in 2011 was over $13,000.  Many of our clients find the credit pays them back for most, if not all, of the money spent on their adoption.
